The Weekly LSA 04: Time to go to Court – LSA Sports 2019

By Tanika Kline

It’s that time of the year again, the Law Students’ Association netball and futsal teams are open for registration!

LSA organises netball and futsal games on campus, for you and your friends to have some fun and de-stress. Or if your looking for new people to meet and new friends to make, this is also the perfect chance. There’s nothing like having a friendly competition to take your mind off due dates and assignments. More than likely, there will be more laughs than seriousness in these matches so if you don’t have experience with these sports, it will not be a disadvantage. LSA sports are all about wellbeing, having a run around and good chuckle at yourself can lift almost any bad mood.

If you’re interested in coming down to the courts but you don’t have a team, there will be plenty to join, the more the merrier! Otherwise teams need to consist of at least seven players. Games are set to start from 5:45 to 8:00pm.

Netball teams are mixed and play four ten-minute quarters with a two-minute break in between. Time is running out to register to play as competition starts in week for and after the 26th no new players will be able to join! All equipment including bibs are provided, all teams need to do is choose a captain and bring their runners! Game day is Tuesday, so be ready to bring the action.

Futsal is also returning this semester and is set to be as fast paced and full of fun. Teams are mixed and require at least two girls in order to play. That unfortunately means that teams who turn up without enough player are required to forfeit.  Futsal games were scheduled to begin in week two but do not fear, you can register to play right up until week four. Games will run from 5:45 to 8:00pm every Wednesday.

Now for the nitty gritty details. Registration for netball teams closes on March 26th and futsal registration closes on the 27th.  There is also a registration fee of $80 per team and weekly game fees of $50 per team. It is important to keep a hold of your registration receipt as the LSA will be reimbursing teams. All important details can be found through the following links, otherwise keep an eye on the La Trobe Law Students’ Association’s Facebook page for updates.
