Maurice Blackburn Women in Law Breakfast 2016
We are all undoubtedly familiar with the challenges that graduate lawyers are faced with once they enter the legal profession. Sadly, however, some of these challenges tend to be exacerbated for female lawyers, with discrimination and unconscious bias still present within the legal profession. The partnership figures as of 2013 are 23% female partners in large law firms, 18% in mid tiers and 17% in small firms. Considering the amount of female law graduates at the moment, these numbers are disheartening.
Join us at the annual Maurice Blackburn Women in Law Breakfast to both network, and learn about the challenges that women face within the legal profession and how to combat these issues.
Our keynote speaker for this year’s breakfast is Liberty Sanger. Liberty is a Principal, Board member and Practice Group Leader at Maurice Blackburn Lawyers who co-manages the firm’s Victorian WorkCover and road accident injuries (TAC) departments. Liberty is a qualified Law Institute of Victoria Personal Injury Accredited Specialist who became a lawyer to help people.
True equality can only be achieved if we are all socially aware and educated on the topic and work together. Males play an important role in the shifting of ideals, and advocating for equality in the legal space. As such, we encourage males to also attend this event as true equality can only be achieved where all genders unite and tackle this issue as one.
