La Trobe Law School has a long and proud history of competing in international mooting competitions. These competitions provide a fantastic opportunity for students to build exceptional advocacy, research, memorandum drafting and teamwork skills. The competitions also provide a fantastic opportunity to network with academics, legal professionals and other students. Students competitors have had much success in overseas competitions, with many awards being won by competitors for their speaking and memorandum drafting skills.
The three key competitions include the prestigious Willem C Vis. International Arbitration Moot and the Phillip C. Jessup International Law Moot. La Trobe also competes in the ICC Asia Pacific Commercial Mediation Competition. Participation is by application only and they are open to students with strong academics (B average is usually required). Applications for the Vis and Jessup Moot will open towards the end of Semester Two each year in September. Applications for the Mediation Competition will open at the beginning of Semester One.
