Darebin Community Legal Centre Volunteer Opportunities
Darebin Community Legal Centre (DCLC) is a not-for-profit community legal service which provides free legal advice and referral to people who live, work or study in the Darebin area. The Centre aims to empower and support the Darebin community through legal advice, advocacy, education and information.
DCLC is currently looking for volunteers for positions including:
Front Office Volunteers
The front office is the first point of contact for all clients. Duties will include taking incoming calls, providing information and referrals, making appointments, performing data entry, and assisting the Front Office Coordinator and Client Services Officer.
Hours of Work:
- Morning Shift: 9:30am – 1:00pm
- Afternoon Shift: 1:00pm – 4:30pm
Volunteers are only expected to commit to one shift per week, however they may elect to work more than one shift. For more information about the role and how to apply, please find the position description and the application form below.
Night Service Paralegals
The DCLC night service operates on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. Tuesday nights are weekly drop-in sessions where no appointment is required for clients to attend. Wednesday nights have scheduled appointments every fortnight.
The position entails assisting staff lawyers in client interviews in order to provide timely, accessible and targeted legal advice to clients.
Hours of Work:
- Tuesday or Wednesday nights from 7:00pm to 9:00om.
Volunteers are expected to commit to a minimum of one shift per month.
